Why do people go about the MT's record, throw enough money at any team and you'll get em up. I'll have a tenner with anyone that given the same squad and budget, there isn't one person on this messageboard who couldn't match it.

You only need to look at how the MT reacted in the second half of the season. When the wheels started to come off they went out and brought in players like Hand, Sloma and Okay....all Conference players....and Dudfield whom, apparently, they hadn't seen play and all, no doubt, on a decent wedge. In other words they did exactly what they'd done with the Ryman; tried to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. It's just what the MT had done all along at Canvey.

The trouble is the higher you go up the ladder the more even the playing field becomes in terms of budgets and it becomes more and more a question of quality of management. And that's when you start to get found out....as we have.

The key to this debate is that some people are looking forward and others are not...
Our board has stated very ambitious targets in previous years and the current board is no different. If the club is to fulfil these ambitions, we need to ensure we keep looking forward. What has happened in the distant past does not matter. We aspire to be a league club and the board need to ensure that they are safeguarding our future for the long-term, possibly another 2 levels higher. I don't think operating on a similar budget to this season in the Blue Square South is particularly prudent. Then again, only the board know what we can really spend on a monthly basis.

I have heard some very positive words regarding the club's youth policy for next season. They are trying to ensure the club grows organically, potentially unearthing more and more Ricky Holmes' every year. This is fantatsic news for the football club. Obviously, they will need to ensure the MT buy-into this organic growth. Someone who is given a specific remit of allowing young players to come in flourish in the first team, or at least to give them a chance.

Hopefully, this is the first of many steps to move this football club forward...I really believe we are still batting below our average in the Blue Square South and the BSP is our rightful home. Let's hope 2010 yields a promotion party!!

I really hope you are right Selbiz5 - it will make a very refreshing change to see some young players coming throught to join the first team squad.
As for the skill or ineptititude of the MT I'll keep my powder dry until Saturday evening by which time we will all have been able to see how they react to Tuesday.

I have said before,and see no reason to change my view,that whatever league we are in next season there will be cuts to the player budget ...it is prudent in the current climate not to do otherwise.

The bloodbath of clubs struggling financially(at all levels) is far from over,with worse to come, and only those who employ sensible financial management and self discipline will come out at the other end stronger.
