I'm sure there has already been plenty of discussion around this subject, but has any consideration (and donations) been given to the opportunity of renaming the main stand the 'Don Walker Stand'.

I know it belongs to the Council and not the football club, but l can't see why they would raise any objections to a clear sign at the top?

What do people think as a tribute?

You are spot on there, Paul. Why would anyone or anybody object to this. "The Don Walker Stand" it should be.

But we are talking about the present not the future, which could be 5+ years or more away.

A fitting tribute perhaps and if the club arranged for the sign and told supports the cost, the money would be found pre season l'm sure, just by a few buckets at the club shop and half time!

Main Stand = The Don Walker Stand. The club should suggest it to the council. What a fitting tribute.

I don't believe that the supporters of CCFC should be made to collect for the 'Don Walker Stand'.
Surely the Club should donate the funds to such a worthy cause without involving a 'hat' collection at the gate.

I don't believe that if such a collection was instigated, "venturer" that there would be any question of supporters being "made" to collect....

Some supporters may welcome the opportunity to donate to what would amount to a "permanent" memorial to Don....

Any shortfall could well be made up by the club....

Perhaps "The Club" with its' bottomless pockets should also pay for spectators to get in to matches.

There would be no problem raising the money. Don was loved and respected by all true Clarets. The only sticking point would be whether naming a single stand would be enough for those who had the opportunity to meet Don even once.

i never met don,but have read his history with interest, as well as the tributes paid to him in various locations. i think namimg a stand would be the minimum honour paid to this claret legend. maybe in future years a new ground could be built in his honour.
